You stand as defense counsel (dressed as a male university student) in court. Though you were nervous when you first appeared, now you have found your confidence as you reveal the true culprit. The judge praises your performance in court, remarking that it is almost unbelievable it is your first time appearing as counsel, and compares you to your "cousin," Ryunosuke Naruhodo. You accept the praise and observe respectfully as the prosecutor cuts off his topknot in shame and the judge pronounces your client Not Guilty.

In the antechamber outside the courtroom, you heave a breath of relief. Your first court appearance was exhilarating, but also terrifying. Not only did you have to defend your best friend Rei from murder charges, but you had to do so while in disguise as Ryutaro Naruhodo, due to the bar on women setting foot within a courtroom in your country.

Rei greets you with tears in her eyes outside the courtroom. "Thank you, Susato! Thank you so much! You were so dashing in there! I'm so touched by everything you've done. . . I think I'm going to cry!"

"It wasn't easy," you admit. "But together we made it! I was on the verge of tears by the end, too."

Rei's face lights up in a wonderful smile. "The only reason I'm still here is because of you!"

"Oh, no, I can't take all the credit! It took courage, in there, to tell the truth. You did wonderfully in there, Rei."

Rei scolds you for your 'super humility' despite her close friendship, and advises you to celebrate in a more manly way by throwing caution to the wind and taking her out to a milk bar. You both agree it was at least satisfying to throw the true culprit to the ground together, and Rei asks whether there's anyone else they can throw, eyeing your father.

"You fought for your friend to the very end," he says. "As your father, I'm very proud of you, defense attorney Ryutaro Naruhodo."

"I couldn't have done it without your help," you concede. "Anyway, I think it's time to bid farewell to Ryutaro. I shall miss him in a way, but it's back to Susato Mikotoba now."

"I'll never see him again?" Rei asks wistfully. "What a terrible shame. . . "

But as she says that, several of the witnesses suddenly recognize you as well. After speaking with them, and hearing some alarming news that appears without sound, the Judge comes out of his chambers to speak with you as well. You learn that in fact, Judge Jigoku was an old friend of your father's, and had therefore been aware of your real identity the entire time, so you had never truly been in danger of discovery.
