[ yeah everything kinda sucks now, doesn't it? ]

Your performance today was quite the sight to behold.

[booksleeves]

[Ah. She looks a little bewildered by this.]

Miss Scheherazade. . . thank you for saying so.

You're welcome. I know it is not an ideal situation, but without your hard work, there is the possibility we wouldn't have voted for the correct person. It was a group effort, but your contributions are greatly appreciated.

[ also those qi rong burns were pretty sick. she, however, was too terrified to really do much, so! credit where credit is due, susato uwu ]

If my efforts contributed to finding the right person in some way, then I am glad. I admit that Xie Lian confided in me some of his suspicions. . . but I did not want to accuse the man without evidence.

I am not acquainted with many people here, but I will have to thank him properly later. I don't want to die, and having a killer living among us would have been too much to bear.

Hopefully with him taken care of, there can be some semblance of peace.

I would hope so. He certainly seemed like the villainous sort who would have continued his wicked deeds.

[Brushing her hand gently against her face.]

And yet. . . I am afraid we may only be at the beginning.

What do you mean? Surely the killer has been caught, what more is there to the story?

[ sure, there's unanswered questions, like what the heck is up with the daemons - and hers, which is currently in the form of an elf owl, is currently just vibing on her staff. and it's not like she doesn't have her own questions too, but. this place is just so much. ]

[Oh dear. Well. . . ]

Some of the Watchers seemed to believe we were like to experience a competition between the factions, and that it might turn violent. I think this may suggest their fears were founded.

Oh no. I am not suited for such things, there must be a mistake?

[booksleeves]

Oh, please don't be distressed. None of us wish to see that come to pass.

[naqqali]

[ She takes a moment to collect herself. ]

I'm sorry, I just-- I will certainly die if I have to fight.

[booksleeves]

[Oh. . . ]

I. . . am not much of a fighter, either. I know how to defend myself, but all out combat. . .

But I shouldn't think it will come to that.

I hope not. If there are others who are't combat-oriented, then perhaps there will be another way?

[booksleeves]

I should like to think so. I think there are many kind people here, don't you?

[naqqali]

I want to believe so, but I suppose there's no real way of knowing.

[ A DUDE GOT VORED!!! like yeah qi rong didn't exactly look like an upstanding citizen but COME ON. ]

No, there isn't. Still, even if some will disappoint us, others will work hard to help us.

That is such an admirable outlook. [ to susato's credit, sche does seem to be inspired by this, and perks up a little! ]

I will believe in your optimism that we are surrounded by others who will choose to do the right thing. Even if it means to fight... So long as they do not turn their swords on innocent people, then perhaps it won't entirely be all bad.

week 2; tuesday

[Well, on Tuesday, Sche will probably be able to feel that Susato is feeling more down than usual. She's sitting with a cup of tea, nursing it. When she comes closer, she glances up.]

. . . Oh. Miss Scheherazade, I think perhaps - there is some tie between us this week, isn't there?

[naqqali]

I believe that to be the case, yes.

[ she has her staff with her today, and her little owl pal djinni sits on top. this is probably something they should talk about, although she isn't sure how, given her own low buzzing anxiety. but this link is troublesome, moreso because she can feel this girl's sorrow so acutely - it makes scheherazade a bit sad, too. ]

Are you alright, Susato?

[booksleeves]

Oh, yes.

[She sighs, giving a small smile in return.]

It feels a bit silly, compared to all of the important things that are happening. I saw something in a memory that was a bit unsettling.

[naqqali]

Do you wish to talk about it? I will not pry, but do not feel like you must carry these feelings alone.

[ susato doesn't deserve this, whatever it is. ]

[booksleeves]

[Hmm. . . she's not sure, but. Smiling a little.]

I learned inadvertently from Mr. Sholmes that my father had been withholding some information from me. I suppose I feel a little conflicted about it, that is all. As I said, it's no serious matter. It is only that along with all of these memories, it has been a series of frustrating days.

[naqqali]

I see. Yes, it has been frustrating lately, and I am sorry that you are experiencing this now. Even if it is not as serious as some of these other happenings, it does not make it any easier to deal with. These... memories, are a little scary, and only make things more complicated.

[booksleeves]

Thank you, Miss Scheherazade. I feel a little better having spoken of it at all.

[As she speaks, however, her hand accidentally falls on one of the shards of glass, playing a memory.

[naqqali]

[ What she wants to say is "I'm glad," before she's interrupted by the memory. And yet, that isn't entirely an inappropriate response either-- she is glad that Susato, being the determined and intelligent young lady that she is, was able to successfully win her case and save her friend. It's admirable and sweet. ]

Ah-- Susato..

You're such a hard worker, aren't you?

[Oh. . . well, she smiles at the compliment, because she does try to do that - it's one she can easily accept.]

I had to try to do something in that situation. But I was lucky to have father's help, as well.

I think it's important to have someone that supports you in your endeavors, no matter how difficult they may be. Although you do not seem like the kind of person who would take such relations for granted, either... I am probably telling you things that you already know.
