[ Their rooms are on the same floor, so Nanaly will catch her on the way there. ]

Hey. That was all... a lot, but thanks for all your effort today. You were a really big help to everyone.

[She does feel tired and a little sad, so she looks very pleased at this.]

You are too kind.

Just telling the truth. The way everyone was jumping to conclusions after that hair clue, things might have really gone south if you hadn't been there as a voice of reason.

[ And she's grateful, because she really would not have wanted that blood on her hands. ]

The way you were able to keep your cool when looking at the body and everything was pretty impressive too.

[She glances down and away at that.]

I admit. . . I did not care for that. But my father is a scholar of the science of autopsy. I thought perhaps I could assist.

week 2; thursday

[Susato is sitting by herself in the garden on Thursday. When Nanaly comes by, she will get a memory in her direction.]

[burnstrike]

[ Oh...

She hadn't realized Susato had lost someone like that. Even if it's not her own pain she's feeling in this memory, it's not wholly unfamiliar, either. Which is probably why it still kind of sticks with her even after the memory has ended on that optimistic note. ]

Sorry... I didn't mean to walk in on that.

[ She offers an apologetic smile, and comes over to stand a little closer. ]

I think you made a good choice, though. Living the life they'd want for you is the best way you can honor someone when they're gone.

[Oh. She looks a little surprised, but she will look up and give her a soft smile.]

. . . It's alright. Thank you. I would want to think we had honoured Kazuma-sama in our actions.

[burnstrike]

[ She nods; she's sure they did. ]

You both cared about him a lot, huh? He must have been a pretty great guy.

Yes.

[Folding her fingers together, glancing away.]

He was wonderful. Kind and noble and so passionate about his ideas.

week 2; saturday

[booksleeves]

[After trial, Susato can be found out by the docks to the canals near the mansion, sitting and peering out into the water. She looks to be in an angry mood, fists clenched, but trying to calm herself.]

[burnstrike]

[ Yeah, extremely relatable, actually. She's just kind of pacing around out here... and even though she just helped clear a bunch of rubble out of these canals yesterday, she's kicking a small rock back in. ]

Can you believe that guy??

[booksleeves]

He's awful.

[Clenching her fists.]

I can't believe he made me feel badly about it.

[burnstrike]

I know! Where does he get off guilt tripping you for suspecting him? Even if everyone's reasoning was off, he still knew he murdered someone!!

[booksleeves]

Hmm.

[She frowns, glancing away, folding her hands.]

He wasn't entirely wrong, with what he said about me. But. . . someone like him . . . isn't who I want to waste my feelings on.

week 3 post-trial

[burnstrike]

[ Wherever Susato goes to rest after the trial, Nanaly will come to check up on her at some point. ]

Hey... How are you feeling?

[booksleeves]

[She's in House 3, resting, but looking a little dazed and very tired. However, she'll smile at Nanaly.]

. . . Tired. But thank you for asking.

[burnstrike]

I bet. Hope you can get some decent rest now.

[ There's a pause followed by a sigh. ]

Sorry we didn't catch the person who did that to you.

[booksleeves]

[Aww, Nanaly.]

. . . Thank you. I'm sorry, too. It makes me feel rather useless. I witnessed it, and yet I could not help pinpoint the culprit.

[burnstrike]

No one's gonna blame you for that with the condition they put you in. It seems like they were pretty careful to make sure you couldn't.

Anyway, I'm just really glad we didn't end up losing you too. Everyone was really upset hearing that you were missing.

week 4; saturday

[booksleeves]

[She will come to find Nanaly in the evening. Nanaly wouldn't say if she needed anything, so she'll bring her some simple tavern fare to eat.]

Nanaly?

[burnstrike]

[ Her eyes are a little red, and she sounds a bit stuffier than usual, but she manages a smile. ]

Hey. [ And a glance at the plate. ] You didn't have to do that.

[booksleeves]

It is very little, I'm afraid.

[She'll sit down in front of her.]

. . . I wish I could find the words to explain. I'm afraid there's no real way we can have a true conversation.

[burnstrike]

What do you mean?

[booksleeves]

There is a certain artifice to jailhouse talks, is what I mean. It may be hard to speak our true feelings knowing what tomorrow brings.

Still, I wanted to be here so you wouldn't think me uncaring. That may be an artifice itself, but . . .
